Sodium ethylenesulfonate, SVS for short, CAS is 3039-83-6, which has olefin double bond and reactive sulfonic acid group. This dual functional structure makes it applicable to the organic intermediates of functional monomers in polymerization.

Its main applications are as follows:

(1) Electroplating: it can be used as a brightener for nickel and chromium plating to improve the ability of uniform plating and the ductility and brightness of the coating. It can also be used for electroplating of iron metal and alloy.

(2) Ion exchange resin: auxiliary agent of ion exchange resin, which really improves the exchange capacity.

(3) Cement additive: the copolymer containing  Sodium ethylenesulfonate can be used as the setting blocker of cement in high temperature well, as the dispersant of high salt water mud, as the water loss inhibitor in deep well hole, as the dispersant of cement, to improve the slump and operability, and increase the strength. It is also used as additive in concrete.

(4) Flocculant: copolymer containing  Sodium ethylenesulfonate is used as filter aid of kaolin and anionic coagulant of sludge dehydration.

(5) Leather tanning agent: the copolymer containing  Sodium ethylenesulfonate as tanning agent can retain the leather, improve the color structure, and make the leather soft, full and bright. It can also be used as adhesive for leather finishing.
